The Earth On Heaven project uses the data from the physical space to form a digital environment which reflects the individual’s “universe” on Earth.
Earth on Heaven builds on existing data visualisation methods to create an aesthetic and contemplative space.
When looking at the ceiling of the installation space we can observe stationary stars that represent locations chosen by those taking part in the project. The size of the stars depends on the importance each place holds for the particular person who chose it. Each travelling star tracks the recorded movement of the person in their physical environment. Sound is composed from the field sound samples recorded by each participant during their journey, and is triggered when their travelling star passes through the location where the sound was recorded.
Project created using Open Source programming languages – Processing, Pure Data and OSC communication protocol.

Hi Mari, was just wondering if your work could have applications in glass making, by building up layers of images ‘that change’ on to flat sheets of glass; therby creating a solid 3 dimensional image that changes through space. this could be done using ceramic/glass transfers or even thin textiles. I’m looking forward to seeing the videos but have to instal flash player first.
